Setting Up WhatsApp

Register your agent’s own number on WhatsApp and author the profile people see.

Before You Start

Two things have to be true before the WhatsApp panel can register anything. WhatsApp must be switched on for your agent — that is a paid add-on the account owner activates under Billing, not something you can turn on yourself. And your agent needs its own phone number; a personal agent with no number of its own has nothing to register, and the panel says so rather than offering a button that could only fail.

Where It Lives

Open the Integrations card on your agent and find the WhatsApp panel. It opens by checking the current state of your number, so give it a moment before acting on what you see.

Write the Profile First

Under WhatsApp business profile you can fill in About, Description, Website, a second website, a contact email, a business address and a business category, and upload a square profile photo of at least 640 by 640 pixels. Do this before you register — the profile rides along with the registration. Display name is filled in from your company name and is not editable here, because Meta reviews it.

Registering the Number

When the panel says the number is not registered yet, a Register this number on WhatsApp button appears. Press it once. The button only appears once the status check has come back, so it may take a second or two to show up. Registration then takes a few minutes and the status line updates as it goes.

The Verification Call

WhatsApp verifies a number by calling it and reading out a six-digit code. There is nothing for you to answer: we take that call, read the code and submit it for you, and the panel shows a countdown while it listens. This is the normal path and it needs no action from you.

If the Code Cannot Be Read

Occasionally the code cannot be made out clearly enough to submit safely, or the call does not arrive while we are listening. The panel then shows One manual step needed, with the recording to play and a box for the six digits. There is also an option to listen for the call again. This is the rare path, not the normal one.

When One Dash Zero Finishes It

Some numbers reach a state where the last step has to be completed on our side. The panel says so plainly — that One Dash Zero will finish this step for you and no action is needed from you. If you see that, you are not stuck and there is nothing you have missed.

What the Number Becomes

Once registered, your existing business number answers WhatsApp as well as calls. Messages arrive in the WhatsApp Chats card, your AI replies using the same knowledge and integrations as every other channel, and you can take over any conversation. The number keeps working for voice exactly as before.

Disconnecting

There is no disconnect button, and that is deliberate rather than an oversight. Removing a number from WhatsApp is a one-way door — re-registering it afterwards needs a change inside Meta’s own tools that we may not be able to make. Contact One Dash Zero if you need it done.
