SMS Messaging
Send and receive text messages directly from the FONE app.
Before You Start
The SMS card only appears when two things are both true: your agent’s phone number can actually send text messages, and SMS is switched on for your agent. Many numbers cannot send SMS at all — every Dominican Republic number, for example — and in that case the card stays hidden rather than offering a send that could only fail. If you cannot find the card, one of those two is missing.
The SMS Card
The SMS card lists your text conversations by phone number. Click one to open the thread, type in the box and press Send. Back returns you to the list.
Sending a New SMS
At the bottom of the card, type the recipient number in E.164 form — for example +14155551234 — and press New SMS. Messages are sent from your business phone number.
AI Follow-Ups
Your AI agent can send SMS follow-ups after calls: appointment confirmations, thank-you messages, directions to your office. They appear in your SMS history alongside anything you send by hand.
Notifications
Unread messages show a badge on the SMS card heading. Click through to read and reply.
