Desk Phones (SIP)
Ring a physical desk phone alongside FONE when a call comes in.
What It Does
A desk phone can ring at the same time as the FONE app when someone calls your agent’s number, before the AI answers. Whoever picks up first takes the call. It is an addition to FONE, not a replacement for it.
We Set This Up For You
There is no setting for this in FONE. Desk phones are provisioned by One Dash Zero on request — contact us with the make and model of the phone and which agent it should ring for. There is nothing you can switch on yourself, and the app deliberately does not show a control that would imply otherwise.
What Your Phone Needs
Almost every desk phone sits behind a router, and two settings decide whether it keeps working: RPort must be enabled, and a STUN server must be configured. Without both, the phone registers the address it has on your local network rather than the one the internet can reach.
Why That Matters More Than It Sounds
A phone with those settings missing looks completely fine at first. It shows as registered, and a test call made straight away rings normally. Minutes later it stops receiving calls, because the temporary opening in your router has closed and there is no longer a route back. If your desk phone rang once and then went quiet, this is almost always why — and it is a phone setting, not a fault with your agent.
Checking It Is Really Working
A registered indicator on the handset proves very little. The check that means something is a test call placed several minutes after the phone last registered, not immediately after. If that call rings, the phone is genuinely reachable.
If It Stops Ringing
Tell us, and say whether the phone still shows as registered and how long it had been idle. That is usually enough for us to tell the difference between a network problem at your end and something on ours.
